      The Jetsons
Jetson reports to Major Spacely (reminds me of me in the morning)
      Unofficial Jetsons Home Page

Remember getting up in the morning for school and while mom made breakfast the T.V. show Jetsons was on? I never was into Flintstones. I don't know why... I just liked Jetsons better. Perhaps it was because it was more funny of how they made made fun of the future rather than the past.
It's George Jetson! And HE'S SMOKING!!
OH NO! LOOKOUT!!!! Somebody sue Phillip Morris!!
George Jetson smokes on the episode of the indestructible jacket--
SO DON'T TRY AND TELL ME I CREATED THIS!

      OH NO! LOOKOUT!

George Jetson, a cartoon character, is SMOKING (on the Cartoon network of all places)!!
Quick! Somebody sue Phillip Morris! So what if 70% of Americans polled said they started smoking because of friends and not cartoon characters? We blame Joe Camel and now he's dead!
      Look out George... you're next!

However, the Jetsons are second to my all-time favorite show (and movie)--

What is this Generation Two Gorilla garbage??

The second Transformer Movie commercial off T.V. (57k .MP3)

What is this "Generation 2" garbage?!?! I wasn't big on G.I. Joe, Thundercats, The Mask (80s show), Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, Voltron, Jem, or My Little Pony. I kept it simple-- Transformers, Go-Bots,
and The Great Space Coaster...and that one Saturday

Night Court with Judge Harold T. Stone
The Night Court Cast Dan cares about court stenographer (58k .MP3)
      Dan's Night Court Page

The best 80s sitcom was, hands down, Night Court with "Dan Dan" Fielding. What made this show better than any other was how unique each character was.

    • Dan: "If I kept coming back here [Paragon Club], I'd probably sleep with the same woman twice, anyway."

    • Bull (hitting on a woman at the Paragon Club): "Excuse me. Did you know you have enough tissue in your lungs to wallpaper this entire room?"

    • Harry: "Hi, I'm Harry. Aren't we all?"

    • Christine: "Oh!!! You all think I'm just a........... BIG POOP!"

    • Roz: "Bull, let me put this as gently as possible. You don't have talent."

Duff's favorite line was the two sisters talking to Dan Fielding:
"Well excuse us for livin' but the graveyard's full!"

Harry, Christine, and Captain Dan Fielding (Episode where Dan's plane goes down in the Arctic)

DAN: "My name is Dan. Dan Fielding."
ESKIMO: "Nice to meet you, Dan Dan Fielding."

      M-m-m-Max ... Headroom

Max upset his profile has to sink so low as to be part of my web site.

      Max Headroom.

Another spectacular product of the 80s is the most beloved T.V. hero (and Coke commercial solicitor). Tragically, today's teens may not know the origin of the name Max Headroom. For those of you unfortunate enough not to have the first episode on VHS (unlike me), let's simply say that the name came from a horizontal barrier bar designed to de-note highest vehicle height when raised. It was the last thing Edison Carter saw when he hit a ground barrier that threw him off his motorcycle and head-first smack into the bar. And that's why Max looks like Edison. Max's dress attire for the Coke commercials.

      Midnight Madness movie
      Midnight Madness

    • One of the most extrorinarily cheezy HBO 80s movies (which what made it so cool)
    • Disney's second PG-rated motion picture (first was "Black Hole")
    • Michael J. Fox's first role! (look at the top of the box--his name's not there!)
    • Such a catchy team game theme, people do it for real!: http://www.gamecontrol.com

M.C. Hammer Now here's where we get to the heart of the 80s...

The 80s are over. So what? So are the 90s!
The 90s got their music for the 80s--especially all those rap remakes from 80s songs like Bananarama's Cruel Summer, Police's Every Breath you Take, and the Flash Gordon theme song (last track on the movie soundtrack). And that "Sweet Child of Mine" re-make by Sheryl Crow--did that suck or what?

M.C. Hammer was and still is my favorite rapper. He smiles, his music is soft, he gave to charity, and his music is responsible for my first interest in fast dancing. He should've kept the M.C., though...

Remember back at the high school Halloween dance or Christmas dance
back in the early 90s when M.C. Hammer, Bryan Adams, New Order,
and the Digital Underground were the most requested?

Bon Jovi!! Twisted Sister band member's boot
"Big hair bands" were the best. Remember when that Twisted Sister band member had the army sergeant's rank on his boot? That rocked! And that commercial for Monster Ballads made me laugh--"They taught us how to live... they taught his how to love..."

Rather than bore you with how much I love and play 80s music, I'll bore you with the load time of pictures of 80s music I own.

I collected tapes and LPs as long as I could...
I was the only college freshman in '94 that had his own turntable.
      I was spinnin' 'em.

The best of the 80s toys!

"Well pardner, this Atari 2600 ain't big enough for the both of us!"

      Gunmen drawn in painstaking detail!

      The Atari 2600

Space InvaderAhh yes... ye Atari 2600...
The video game system that was fun to pull the cartridge out of when it was still on...
Remember when you wanted to buy a 2600 cartridge, you went to the local
drug store... perusing the $10-15 black, plastic cartridges?

      Lego Fire Station

And what happened when you won the Atari 2600 game Haunted House?
We went to our bedrooms and opened all those lego cases full of pooled legos from various sets of Lego buildings...

I remember my first set was the first Lego spaceship called the "Commander." and then went to the Lego police station and airport. Crashing the airplane was the most fun...
The piece I could never ever find was the "folder!" Remember that piece? It was the ultimate piece that allowed 90-degree movement of Lego components. Lying on the floor with my brother--both of us quietly building the one big city and every five minutes, "Do you have a folder over there?"

...and now... a TRUE 80s ICON.

Now I challenge you with the ultimate 80s question:
Do you remember the "Heinz Ketchup Burger Blaster?"
The commercial for Heinz ketchup where the young teenager with the baseball cap (not backwards) got into a bottle of ketchup that transformed into a spaceship and would shoot streams of ketchup at fries and burgers?

I was browsing the newspaper one day and found a coupon to buy one of those Burger Blasters--
and I have one that works!!! My 1980s Heinz Ketchup Burger Blaster
