1 baking pan (preferably glass - at least 5 qts.) 1 mixing bowl (same capacity) 2 lb (32 oz.) frozen Hash Brown SQUARES (cubes) 1 cup diced onions (only need one half onion for this) 1 10&3/4 oz. (can) Cream of Chicken soup (condensed OK) 1 lb sour cream 1 stick ("quarter") butter 2 8 oz. bags grated, Sharp Cheddar cheese 1 cup fine-crushed potato chips - Preheat oven to 375 degrees - Heat margarine until liquid - Mix hash brown squares, onions, cream of chicken, sour cream, liquified butter, and one 8 oz. cheddar cheese bag into mixing bowl -- Mix until uniform appearance/color - Transfer contents from mixing bowl to pan; smooth out until flat surface - Bake for 1 hour-10 mins or when edges begin to brown--whichever occurs first - Remove from oven to add other 8 oz. grated cheese as a top-layer - Add crushed chips on top of cheese as another layer - Replace in oven for another 10 minutes (or till chips turn golden brown)
